About Us
Steel River Testing is an independent commercial laboratory operating in the Newcastle area servicing the Hunter Region and beyond. The director and manager, Michael Campbell, has over 30 years’ experience in laboratory services and quality control. This has included active participation on various sub-committees for Standards Australia as well as having been the nominated representative for Australia at International Standards Organisation meetings.
Steel River Testing began operations in November 2010, offering water analysis and air-borne dust determinations for environmental consultants and local businesses. Our scope of services has since expanded to include stack emission work, soil testing and sedimentation studies of mine dams.
Steel River Testing maintains a laboratory management system that meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025. It aims to report accurate, timely analysis, reliably and efficiently, consistently fulfilling our customer’s needs and expectations. We offer flexibility to client requirements, a rapid turnaround service and coverage over weekends and public holidays if needed.
Steel River Testing has a purpose built database that manages all parts of the process from receipt of samples to generation of reports. We are constantly striving for continuous improvement and have developed innovative methods including specialised techniques for assessing dust around mine sites and coal handling facilities.
